Yates Racing will resurrect the No. 28 next season with driver Travis Kvapil. The number, which has been driven by 10 of the 40 winningest drivers in NASCAR history for 76 victories, hasn't been used since Ricky Rudd was behind the wheel at RYR in 2002. "Hopefully, we can do the things we used to do with it," said Doug Yates, the co-owner of RYR. Among those that have driven the 28 are Cale Yarborough, Bobby Allison, Donnie Allison, Davey Allison, Dale Jarrett and Ernie Irvan.

MIKE HARPER COLUMNS

SPEEDtv.com's HARPER: McDowell Determined To Achieve NASCAR Dreams

If NASCAR owners are looking for the next young-gun I’d point them into the direction of ARCA RE/MAX Series driver Michael McDowell. This young stock car talent out of the Eddie Sharp Racing stable has turned the ARCA world upside down.

SPEEDtv.com's HARPER: Car of Tomorrow Will Benefit ARCA Teams
If you want a reaction from a race fan just utter the words Car of Tomorrow. I think it’s fair to say the implementation of the Car of Tomorrow in NASCAR has been a tough pill for some to swallow.

SPEEDtv.com's HARPER: Harvick Takes on His Boss, Country Joe Racing Making Noise

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, it’s competitive times in ARCA. Each week, I continue to be impressed by the level of talent racing in this series. And, the talent isn’t limited to the person’s name above the door, it also stretches to pit road and to the team owners.

ThatsRacin.com's HARPER: Ginn Is Only Following A Trend

I know you’ve seen the headlines. Ginn Unravels, Ginn Over His Head, Ginn Racing Fails and Ginn Sells Out.
It’s like some crazy media frenzy, jumping all over Bobby Ginn for closing shop and merging his operation with DEI. Larry McReynolds even jumped into the mix in a recent column and said, "I just think that Ginn bit off a little bit more than he could chew." I normally find myself agreeing with Larry, but in this case I’ll step up to the plate and disagree.

JASON JARRETT COLUMNS

Full Throttle Living's JARRETT: The Job of Spotting

A few weeks ago I saw a short TV segment about spotters. I guess I have a different view on what a spotter's responsibilities are or should be. From this TV segment I gathered that the Nextel Cup drivers have different thoughts on what they expect from their spotters.

Full Throttle Living's JARRETT: Bristol Changes Impressive

I am here to let you know just how I felt about the new surface at Bristol Motor Speedway. The view that I had from the roof Thursday through Saturday was impressive right from the start of Busch Series practice on Thursday. Not only were there very few practice crashes there were cars searching out more and more grooves as each hour of practice past by. As you can tell I was excited about what was to come for the rest of the weekend.

Full Throttle Living's JARRETT: Good Run Slips Away at Pocono

We are still sitting on the runway waiting to take off and my mind keeps reflecting back to the race today. I don't know but I am sure the television broadcast didn't show the progress the 44 made on the track today. It was exciting from my seat.

Full Throttle Living's JARRETT: The Next Superstar
There are a ton of good race car drivers out there just watching and waiting on their opportunity to race in one of NASCAR's top three series. I have guys call me every week and ask me how they can get a shot at the "big time." A few years ago I would give them the typical answers: "Just work hard and drive hard," or something like that. I knew at the time I was filling them full of false hope.

Full Throttle Living's JARRETT: Sweat out Infineon

Infineon Raceway has to be a blast to drive. This was just my second trip to the road course. My first trip there was and is still very memorable. Last year we were involved in a late race crash that injured dad's hand.

Full Throttle Living's JARRETT: Watching Nextel Prelude

I usually go to the movies about once a week but this week was a little bit different. For starters, the Nextel Cup event was forced to run on Monday because of rain on Sunday. So, I decided instead of going to a movie I would order The Prelude to the Dream. All I heard about last week was that this was going to be an great show.
